Paper Ninja Star

This is a Paper Ninja Star made from any standard paper size. This is a fun origami project I used to teach people a bunch in elementary and middle school.

Printer paper or notebook paper. As long as its 8.5'' by 11'' and not anything stiffer than printer paper (otherwise it won't fold very well at the end)

Scissors (optional)

Cut/tear the paper in half along the width creating two equally sized halves.

You will be creating two parts to this Ninja star so I will just have the second one follow a step behind the first for better visuals and to create it the exact same as the first.

Fold the papers in half along what is now the length of the paper. Remember my second piece is just following behind, you should do this step to both now.

Fold in half again in the same orientation. Remember to be as neat as possible!

This time it's just in the other direction!

Unfold the previous step and make a new crease by bringing the outer edge to fold diagonally to align with the center fold.

Doing the same with the other side so flip it around!

Now we flip them over! (remember my second piece is just following a step behind here)

No we make a crease along the center of the top portion. Bring the top most edge to the down towards the center.

My second piece is still following a step behind but you would do this with all four sides.

This is the first point to our Ninja Star. Bring the top right corner inwards to that center section

Origami is usually all about symmetry... So do it all again for the rest!

We are just making a crease here. this will be used in the assembly steps.

Same thing for all four. Makes it easier to remember! At this point if you've been following along with only one piece just start over from step 3 and make it all again!

Unfold your last four folds and place them on top of each other. Next steps will have some tape, that's just for ease of pictures, you don't need it.

Its just like folding up the bottom of a box when you don't have any tape. First three sides go down on top of each other and the last folds over the third but under the last locking it in place.

Remember ignore the tape its not needed. I just wanted to keep my hands out of the picture.

Second point is folded in place!

Third point folded and ready to go.

The fourth point goes over the third like the rest have been doing. Only this time is completes the lock by going under 1 in the little pocket it created. You may have force this depending on how stiff your paper is.

It's sharp watch out! See how far you can throw it, they can cover quite the distance. People can even get them to stick into some fruits or Styrofoam's if throw right.
