Paper Flower

Large paper flower, great for children's room decor. About 2-3 feet in diameter, but can be made out of smaller pieces. I reused paper I got from my school library when the printer malfunctioned (personal and other info is crossed out).

Supplies

-17 pieces of paper

-Tape

-Glue

Half Petals

This does require multiple steps. Each petal has two pieces of paper.

  1. Fold one corner of one paper away from you, fold one corner of another paper toward you. Each should show a triangle and a rectangle.
  2. Fold triangle in on itself. Edge of triangle should be on edge of rectangle.
  3. Rap rectangle around triangle.
  4. Use a small amount of tape to hold it in place.

Tip:

-Use back of nail or scissor handles for make folds more defined.

-Do not put tape on the side that has the square, put tape on the side that has the pocket.

The side with the pocket is the backside. Make the squares on the front side touching. Tape the backside, they should be side by side. Tape the points at the bottom last. Put one slightly above the other and tape together well. If the points are not taped on top of each other, there will most likely be an inch gap in the end product making the flower incomplete.

Attach all the petals together. Tape the back sides together and add extra tape to the points.

That Center Part of the Flower

This makes the center part of the flower. This does have multiple sub-steps.

  1. Fold paper in hamburger style, unfold, fold in hot dog style, unfold.
  2. Fold corners in so the edges meet the creases. Use tape in this step to make it hold.
  3. Fold corners in again and make sure that all corners meet at the middle. Then unfold this step.
  4. Fold corners in on the crease made in the previous step. Then tape down.

You should end up with an octagon.

Glue Petal and Middle Part Together

When gluing together, use a lot of glue. I used books to add pressure and make sure they really stuck together.

The Cone Flower

Instead of 8 petals, this one uses 3. The pink cone hides the uneven point. Great to hang upside down from the ceiling or pin to the wall as a makeshift basket. This is not really a step but to do something else with the petals.
