Paper Cut Out Card

Need new ideas for cards? Try a paper cut out like this one! (Also a big thank you to my dad for letting me hoard his X acto knife and cutting board, I really need to get one of my own.) These steps are pretty quick and simple to explain, but it is pretty difficult to do yourself if you haven’t had much practice. This whole process took me a few hours.

• X acto knife
• Cutting board
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Eraser
• Ruler
• Paper (colored)
• Glue stick

Fold your papers in half. Draw your chosen design on your paper. Make sure your design is very clear (along the lines of measure twice cut once, you want to know where to cut for your design). I usually look online to get inspiration for my cards because I can’t just come up with a design on my own, so if you’re like this too then I recommend taking time to look through ideas.

Once you are ready, take your X acto knife and cut out your design. Be very careful with thin pieces and letters, it’s all too easy to rip the paper when you’re trying to cut it. After you have your design cut out, you’ll want to erase any excess pencil marks to clean it up. Then, glue your piece to the second piece of paper.

It took me a good 30 minutes to figure out how I could hold my phone directly above my work space to film. I really wanted to share this with you all because I think it will help others who want to make videos like this as well. All you really need to so it take two tall items and attach a stand for your phone. I used a Christmas tin and a desk organizer with a binder on top of each. Then I taped two arrows across on each side and taped two pencils to those arrows to make a square in the middle. I rested my phone on top and taped it in place so it wouldn't move. I also kept my phone plugged in the whole time. I recommend checking on your phone while it's recording it's timelapse because mine kept shutting off after awhile which was very frustrating (you can't tell much in the video so I it worked out ok).
