Paper Boat

My dad taught me how to make this paper boat when I was a kid. I was so excited because I never thought that you could make a boat with roofs out of a single piece of paper. My dad did it and it was magic. I still love to make them now. It's real easy too.

Start with a piece of square, and fold it along all its lines of symmetry. You should end up like what's shown in the photo.

Fold each corner to the center and make a crease (Photo #1). Open them up (Photo #2). Fold each corner to the crease that you just made (Photo #3). Then fold along that crease again (Photo #4).

Then, fold the whole thing in half, keeping the flaps inside (Photo #1).

Fold half of it back out, like in Photo #2, and do that on both sides to get Photo #3.

You should see four little triangles, two on each side. Fold all four in (Photo #1). Then, bring the hypotenuse of you right triangle down to its base. Do it on all four. The two sides will overlap, and it will feel wrong, but that's right. It should look like Photo #2. Now fold tiny bit of the place where it overlaps so that it makes a flat line instead if a pointy end. (The photo should make it clear. Look at Photo #3.)

Now, here is the trickiest part. This step determines whether you end up with a boat or wrinkled paper.

One end at a time, try to turn the thing inside out. Leave the middle flap alone. Hold each one on the outside with one hand, and do you best to push it inside out.

Compare the two ends in the photo to see what it looks like. The left end is where you start. The right end has been turned inside out.

Once you figure out what to do, do it on both ends.

Now you can just lift up the roofs, and you have the boat!
