Papaya, Carrot, Tomato, Cilantro and More
I have always loved edible art decoration. Almost every single day, I decorate my food plate with colorful foods which are not just healthy, but also tasty and appealing. Most of my cooking involves homemade foods, colors, and other such ideas. This contest is certainly very inspiring and I hope you enjoy all the edible art with loads of colors. Ready to see and ready to eat!
Supplies
1. 1 Payaya
2. Cherry tomatoes
3. 1 Orange
4. Cilantro
5. Tooth-pick
6. Knife
7. Plate for decoration
My Heart Beats for Tomato
This is a very simple step to make a red heart from cherry tomato. As seen in pic 2, wash and take one tomato. Place it down and cut it along the diagonal. Then the other half of the tomato and place it as shown in pic 3. This makes it look like a heart. To keep it firm insert a toothpick as shown in pic 4. Your red heart salad is ready. This could be used directly or along with other edible foods for decoration. I used this in my next salad.
Orange, Tomato and Cilantro Salad
In this next salad, I already have the red tomato hearts ready for use. I then peeled one orange and separated the as shown (pic 2-4). Then, I took one piece and cut it in half (pic 5). Picked this half piece and then carefully arranged it as a central flower (pic 6-7). I also cut a small piece of the cherry tomato and placed it in the center of the orange flower (pic 8). Placed the red heart on the plate (pic 7-9). Lastly, I cut some cilantro leaves and decorated the plate (pic 1). This attractive and appealing salad is ready for serving and enjoying!
Papaya, Tomato & Cilantro Salad
I first wash the papaya. I had picked up the papaya which was pentagon in shape with the 'Edible Art' contest in mind. Then, I cut the bottom 1 inch as shown in pic 4. Peeled the skin of this 1 piece (pic 5). Then, I started cutting it into a 5 petal flower (pic 6). As a next step, I cut another 1 inch of the ring from the bottom and peeled this too (pic 7-8). With the seeds in there, it looks like a nice flower. Then, I cut thin slices from the edge of this papaya ring. Slit one side with the knife (pic 10). Later carefully rolled it into a flower (pic 11). Held it together with the help of a toothpick. Repeated this for the second flower. By now, I had 4 flowers (pic 12). Then, I picked one cherry tomato and cut it into 6 sides. Opened these sides and placed them on the plate and decorated with cilantro leaves (pic 17). Lastly, I cut some rings from the cherry tomato. Removed the central part and placed these are rings on the sides. Salad is ready!
