Pallet Beer Opener
i found a broken beer opener in one of our cupboards. so i decided to make a beer opener from an old pallet plank i had from the garden box project. its not a very hard project but you do need a beer opener. it takes about 2 /3 hours to make. just follow the simple steps and you'll have a new amazing beer opener in a few hours.
Measure and Cut
we begin with making a normal plank. you make this with one big pallet plank. mine was 75 cm or 30 inches. i first sanded the whole thing. after sanding i cut the plank in half. so that gave me a 37.5 cm or 15 inches plank(75:2=37.5). than i got the back sticks. both planks where around 15 cm or 6 inches wide, but i wanted to leave some space in between. so than i cut the planks for on the back. they where both around 15.5 or 6.2 inches long.
Assemble
now that you cut everything you can put it all together. just do it like in the picture. you can do it with screws or nails, it doesn't matter. i choose nails just for fun.
The Opener
now that you got the structure. you can drill holes in the plank and in the opener. i put the opener on like this: nut-washer-wood-pvc-opener-washer-bolt. the pvc in between the opener and the wood is about 1 cm or 0.3 inches long.
The Picture
i put the picture on with my transfer pen. if you want to know how this works please go to this instructable:(https://www.instructables.com/id/Plane-on-Pallet-Board/). all the information is in the instructable. i got the picture from google, and i think it looks great on the wood. i do think i could have placed it in a better place. because now you can only half the bottle. but i still think it looks good.
The Basket
on the bottom i made a little basket to catch the bottle caps. its made from the same wood as the board. i made it by cutting two 45 degree triangles. i also cut a 15 by 8 cm or 6 by 3 inches board. i put it on there with nails and woodglue. at last i put two hanging srews in the top.
your done, have a cold beer for your hard work. :-)
