Pallet/ 55 Gallon Drum Sled



This project is made of material that could be commonly found. It is also a simple project the looks nice and makes a nice sled
Material


- carpenters square
- exacto knife
- assortment of drills
- paint scraper or spatula

- 80 and 120 grit sand paper and Palm sander
- 2 c- clamps or vise grip
- wax bar
- wood putty
- 2 zip ties
- saw zaw with metal blade
- circular saw

- and 2 u- bolts

First Step Pallet to Boards


-select pallet
I selected this pallet from my local dump it was originally double in length
- I used the saw zaw and nail set to remove nail from boards
- I then dissembles the pallet so I had 6 boards
- only need the 1x4s and 1x10s you may throw away the 2x4s

Second Step Building Base




- resize 1x4s to 20 inches or with or other board
- clamp 1x4s to end of 1x10s
- then locate and predrill holes for screws
- drill holes
- screw holes into to predrilled holes
- clamp 1x4s to end of 1x10s
- then locate and predrill holes for screws

Third Step Filling Cracks


- at this time I filled all the cracks and knots with woods putty
- I also filled the space in between the two 1x10s

Four Step Sanding and Waxing


- I sanded and waxed the bottom of the sled to have less friction while sledding
- I when over the boards the boards with 80 grit sand paper and then 180 grit sand paper
- I then went over the boards with canning wax

- I then went over the boards with canning wax
Step Five Plastic Drum Front



I then cut a 20in by 15 in plastic square out of a 55 gallon drum this will turn out to the front of the sled
Step Six the Right Angle



- First I screw the plastic sheet to the base of the sled
- I drilled two holes on each side of the 1x4s so u-bolts will fit
- I then drilled two holes Parallel to the u bolts on the plastic sheet and stringed zip ties to attach string to
- I them tied a string from one to another and adjusted it to a angle of my liking

Step Seven Painting Optional


- I though a black paint job would look nice on my sled
Step Eight Optional Handle

- I used a bamboo chuck off an old fishing pole
- I then drilled though the bamboo and pulled the strong though
- I then tied a string to each string already on the sled
