Paint Your Rusty Car Wheels - the Easy Way!

wheel.jpg

I love my 2007 Toyota Matrix and noticed for a while that the wheels were rusting in between the spokes of the hubcap. I've watched lots of videos and read a good many "how-to's" on painting your wheels. I wasn't about to jack up the car, undo all the lag bolts, take the wheel off and tape up the tire to spray paint the wheel. So...here's the easy way! It's a wheel after all and no one is really going to look closely at it!

Step One: Remove Hubcap

Take the hub cap off exposing your faded rusty wheel.

Sand

Use a small sanding block or some steel wool and go over the entire wheel.

Clean

Use a wet rag or tack cloth to thoroughly clean the wheel.

Paint

Buy a small can of black gloss rust-oleum. I happened to have this old can in the basement and it was perfect.

Paint

Use a small paint brush or a foam craft brush like I did and paint the entire area of your wheel. I did not paint around the lug nuts because that part won't show anyway.

Finish

Let the paint dry for a little while and replace your hub caps. My wheels never looked so good!
