Paduak Wood Earrings Using Reclaimed Wood

Hello everyone!!
In today's build, I'll show you how I transformed small scraps of Paduak wood into a beautiful pair of earrings!!
Supplies
For The Earrings:
wood (paduak)
sandpaper (600 grit)
pencil
small square
small block of wood (for sawing & drilling on)
handsaw
drill
drill bit (1/16)
boiled linseed oil
For The Earring Hooks:
sterling silver wire (20 gauge)
ruler
round jewelry pliers
Choosing Materials

For materials, I chose to use some small scraps of Paduak wood I had laying around! You could use many different materials, though I found that for wooden earrings, hardwoods tend to work best!
Preparing Material & Layout

I squared the edge of the wood blank before layout to ensure that both sides of the earrings would be parallel. After that, I drew a line 3/8ths in from the end to mark the cut line.
Cutting the Earrings Out

To cut the earrings out, I used a small Japanese style wood saw cutting against a wooden block to ensure the least amount of splitting and cleanest cut possible!
Drilling Holes for the Earring Hooks

I drilled the holes with a 1/16 bit, making sure to drill through both sides to prevent blowout.
Sanding & Oiling

After sanding the earrings to a nice matte finish, I rubbed them with some boiled linseed oil to make the grain really pop!
Making the Earring Hooks & Hoops

Here you can see the process of bending the earring hooks into shape. I used two inches of 20 gauge sterling silver wire and then bent it into shape using round jewelry pliers. After that, I made the jump rings out of the same material.
Finished Product

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how these turned out and would love to see your take on this!
Thanks for reading & I hope this inspires you!!
