Upcycled Musical Instrument

I have build any instrument that was able to be made, and I flute made out of PVC pipe. I built this for my 10th grade STEM final exam and it was a fun experience. My instrument had to either be artistic or work musically. It has the ability to make a minimum 7 notes.

Step 1: Materials

  • a PVC pipe that is 15 inches long and 1 inch in diameter
  • a sheet of paper
  • gorilla glue
  • colored tape (optional)
  • a drill
  • a permanent marker
  • scissors

Step 2: Mark

You need to mark the hole in the pipe where you are going to drill

Step 3: Get Ready to Drill

Get the drill and drill all of the holes , but make sure they don’t go through the back side of the pipe

Step 4: Trace

After your all of your holes are drilled, placed the base of the pipe on the paper and trace around it

Step 5: Glue

After you trace around the base, cut it out and glue it to the top of the pipe closest to the mouth hole

Tape

After you glue the circle piece of paper to the top of the pipe, tape around it to secure and make sure no air can seep out

Step 7: Decorate

Now that you have finished all of the logistics of your flute, you can decorate it with whatever you want; I personally used colored tape but its all up to you. When decorating MAKE SURE NOT TO COVER ANY HOLES !
