PVC Basement Kayak Rack

I currently have the problem in my basement where I am running out of space. I need to store my kayaks down there but find a better way to store them. So came this project.

Materials

I will be using the parts I previously used for a soccer skills net. They consist of 3/4 inch pipe and 1/2 in pipe. Along with four, 3/4'" 3 way elbows with one threaded slot, for this slot I have four threaded end caps for the 1/2 inch pipe.

Materials:

4- 3/4" 3-Way Elbow with threads

4-1/2" threaded end cap

5'-1/2" PVC pipe

15'-3/4" PVC pipe

Tools

You will need these tools:

PVC Saw

Channel Wrench

Safety Glasses

Tape Measure

Mallet

Measurement

I first get a rough estimation of the Kayaks, the width is about 2.5 feet, while the height of the stacked kayaks was also around 2.5 feet. Your kayaks may measure differently, if so modify my pipe lengths for your own.

Cutting Pipe

Next cut 2 1/2"pipes to 2.5 feet, after this cut 6, 3/4" pipes also to 2.5 feet.

Adding Endcaps

Next add the end caps with the threads to the 1/2" pipes on both ends.

Add 3-way Elbows

Next add the 3-way elbows, if you need help getting them on tightly you can use the channel locks.

Put It Together

Finally, take the 3/4"pipes and put them into the slots. You can use a mallet to tap the ends and, make sure they are in for a snug fit.
