Precision screwdrivers are a must for fine work. As when using regular size screwdrivers, sometimes space constraints require a shorter handle. This hack solves the problem.

MATERIALS/ TOOLS

You’ll need a set of precision screwdrivers, the kind with changeable bits. Also some small size electrical wire nuts.

A vise is necessary and a drill with a 5/32” bit.(Or, the size of the shank of your screwdriver bits)

DRILL AND ASSEMBLE

Clamp a wire nut in the vise. Drill the centre. This will remove the wire thread (Be careful, it is sharp) It will also enlarge the hole to the size of your screwdriver bit.

Place a screwdriver bit in the vise, shank side up, and gently press the wire nut in place over it.

You can make a whole set, or just make one when needed. Or, just keep a couple of prepared wire nuts at the ready and you can convert any bit into a stubby when needed.
