PORTABLE IPHONE PROP/ CHARGING STAND/ KEY RING

If you travel a lot, you know the frustration of keeping your phone charged, and if you are like me you also like to check the time when you wake up in a strange hotel room.

The trouble is, seeing your phone screen when it sits flat on the nightstand. This little device keeps your phone at a perfect viewing angle and doubles as a key ring so you always have it with you. Since it holds the phone horizontally, you can view the time that way on your iPhone. Ensure StandBy is enabled in Settings > StandBy, then connect it to a power source and set it down horizontally. You can swipe left or right to cycle through different clock faces.

TOOLS/ MATERIALS

Scroll saw with fine blade

Scrap of hardwood 1/2” thick

Drill with i/16” bit

Screw eye

Key ring

Sandpaper

Ruler, Pencil

Mark off a length of 2.5”, width-1”. Draw a 1/2”x 1/2” notch, 1/2” from one end as shown in photo.

Cut out the shape. You may want to angle the area above the notch as seen in the photo. Round over all the edges with sandpaper. Drill a pilot hole in the end opposite the notch. Install the screw eye and key ring.

Set your phone as described and plug in the charging cable. Place the phone horizontally in the groove so it leans at the correct angle. Place it on the nightstand. Just tap the phone to view the time at night.
