PCB Etching

PCB etching is not a technical thing but an art, modern electronics
technology is incomplete without PCB. By using PCB any complex circuit can be made easily.

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to etch a PCB

1. Copper Clad PCB

2. Magazine Paper

3. Laser Printer

4. FeCl3

5. Water

6. Electric Iron

8. Metal Scrubber

9. Sunmica Cutter

10. Scale

magazine paper can be collected from old magazine, so it is very cheap. in this instructables i printed the PCB on magazine paper using laser printer. After printing cut the paper of the print size, so it can be transferred to copper clad PCB.

Cut the PCB of the size of print area this can be done using sunmica cutter. after cutting clean the PCB using metal dish scrubber and dish wash.

In this part I am going to transfer toner to copper clad PCB. In this part just put the paper on PCB and round the Iron on paper for one minute. In this way toner is transferred to copper clad PCB, and paper is strongly pasted to PCB.

Now place the PCB in water for 10 to 20 minutes and remove the paper slowly using thumb and fingers. In this step paper is removed and toner can be easily seen on copper clad PCB.

Now place this PCB into mixture of water and FeCl3 (Ferric Cloride) for 10 to 20 minutes, In this process copper is completely removed and dissolved into FeCl3, Now Take out the PCB and clean with water, if copper is not removed place the PCB into FeCl3 for some more time.

Caution: FERRIC CLORIDE IS HARMFUM FOR EYES AND SKIN

Drill some holes into PCB using drill, Now your PCB is done.
