Supplies

- A round paper lantern (basic wire-frame lantern)
- White or off-white paper (thin, lightweight, and slightly stiff)
- Scissors or a paper cutter
- Strong adhesive or glue gun
- Ruler and pencil
- String or fishing line (optional, for hanging)
- fairy lights or LED bulb (for safe lighting)
PREPARE THE PAPER STRIPS:

- Cut long, thin strips of paper (around 10-15 inches long and 0.5 inches wide).
- You may taper the end to create natural, feather-like effect.
PREPARE THE LANTERN BASE:

- Assemble the round paper lantern (if it comes folder).
- Ensure the surface is clean and dry for better adhesion.
ATTACH THE PAPER STRIPS:

- Start at the bottom of the lantern and work your way up.
- Apply a small amount of adhesive to the top of each strip and press it onto the lantern.
- Overlap the strips slightly for a layered effect.
- Continue gluing strips around the entire lantern, ensuring they flow downward naturally.
ADD MORE LAYERS FOR a FULLER LOOK:

- Once the first layer is done, repeat with another layer above, covering any gaps.
- Continue until the entire lantern is covered in the fringed paper strips.
FINISHING TOUCHES:

- Trim any uneven or overly long strips for uniformity.
- Carefully shake off any loose paper.
- Use fairy lights or an LED bulb for safety.
- If needed, suspend the lantern using a string or hook.
Now, your DIY paper lampshade is ready to hang and brighten up your space!
