P3k "Pek" Droid

P3 series droids, or “pek” droids, were designed as a joint operation between BlasTec and Industrial Atomaton after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Pek droids were primarily used in mining operations on small moons and asteroids. Blas Tec integrated a system into the droids that utilized surplus Imperial E-11 power packs to allow the droids to fire short bursts from a ventral mounted blaster. Although very useful for breaking apart tough minerals, the droids also gained popularity among outer-rim pirates, who used them to jump onto unsuspecting ships and disable them by blasting straight through their power cores.

Although 3ds Max was my introduction to 3d modeling almost 20 years ago, it’s been years since I’ve actually used it. It was challenging having to re-learn how to use the program in such a short amount of time, but I fell into a groove after a while, almost like riding a bike. All modeling and UV mapping was done in 3ds, with hand-painted textures done in Photoshop. Animated in 3ds.
