OverHead Camera Mount DIY for Mobile and DSLR

I have decided to start vlogging in my spare time from home. As its my passion and due to lack of time I wasn't able to do so. I have complete professional setup from camera, lighting, microphone, backdrops and other equipments in my office, but I want to do vlogging in part time from home.

So I decided instead of purchasing all accessories again for home use why not go for DIY equipments. It will also help me in making video content for my DIY videos. So the first challenge I am facing in starting DIY vlogging is over head camera mount. The one available in the market is so expensive here in Pakistan as we don't have an amazon so local sellers are providing such stand for approximate $200 I can design same stand for $5 in this instructable I will guide you complete process of building such head mount camera stand for DIY vlogging

The objective of my DIY videos is to help fellow bloggers or newbies who want to start vlogging but they are not able to start due to budget constraints.

This is my first video I have prepared it via keeping a mobile phone in my hands in most of the video so please ignore vibrations and unnecessary camera movements in this video. Also ignore poor welding because I have done welding for the first time and it will take some time in perfection. The DIY head mount we are going to make in this video is very much portable, you can store it anywhere easily, you can travel with it you can even mount your tablet or mobile phone with your bed and it can be used as bed tablet mount too.

To build the DIY head mount stand we need some stuff like

• A selfie stick - I would recommend Yunteng Selfie stick, however you can use any cheap selfie stick. The one I have used in video costs me $1.5
• C clamp - I have used 3 inches, however you can use as per your needs
• Metal rod - approximately 3.5 feet long and 0.75 inch widths
• 10mm nuts and bolts with spring washer - you can use any washers, however I prefer spring washer to avoid any losing, I have used 1.5 inch bolts

First, we need to make two holes in C clamp and same size holes in the metal rod. So that we can tight c clamp and metal rod with nuts and bolts. Then we need to make few holes after every 2.5 to 3 inches on the other side of metal rod, so that we can adjust the height of selfie stick or DSLR camera whatever you use as per our needs Now just tight the nuts and bolts between C clamp and the metal rod use washers at both ends, here I am using spring washer as it helps to tight both rods properly.

once done, just mount it to your table tightly and check for any kind of moment as it should stable otherwise you won't be able to take steady shots. Now I have tightened the selfie stick with the metal rod in the holes we have made earlier for adjustments, and tada, you are now able to use your DIY head mount with your mobile phones.

If you want to use it with your DSLR camera just take two pieces of metal rods, one will be about 10 inches long and the other one will be around 4 to 5 inches long and weld it with each other so that it shapes like L bracket.

I have used a Yunteng mono pod and removed its bottom, because we have to joint this mono pod with L shape bracket we have made. First, I tried to make two holes, but I realize that if I make two holes and mount nuts and bolts in it, my mono pod won't be able to slide so I have just used one hole I have joined a mono pod with the L shape bracket with the help of 1.5 inch bolt, however, I would recommend you to use 2 inch bolt.

Now I have mounted mono pod with the L shape bracket with nut and bolt at one side and tie clips at another side.

Now the setup is ready, you can start recording with your DSLR or Mobile phone camera.
