Oven Baked Charming Cheese Sandwich
If you want a hot sandwich for lunch, this oven baked sandwich is the one! Cheesy, hot and crispy in the perfect combination. You can personalize it with pesto, tomatoes, meat or for example hot peppers if you like it spicy!
Supplies
Ingredients for two people:
- 4 slices of bread
- 50g butter
- pesto
- 2 slices cheese
- bacon, ham or salami (choose what you like, or don't if you are a vegetarian)
- tomatoes
- mozzarella
- little hand of chives
Tools:
- Oven
- Knife
- Scissor
- Cutting Board
- Baking paper
- Two baking dishes
Cutting the Ingredients
When you start making this delicious sandwich, the first thing you do is turn the oven to 180 degrees to warm it up.
Cut the the chives, tomatoes and mozzarella in slices.
Prepare the Butter
You are going to smear the sandwiches with a butter-chive spread. To prepare the butter smash and mix it with the chopped chives. If you like, you can add some garlic to the mix.
If your butter is straight out of the fridge and to hard to smash, you can put it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it. Don't worry if you don't have a microwave or you don't have access to it because you have a combi-microwave/oven as me. What I always do is fill a big thee-cup with boiling water and empty it again. As soon as possible place the glass on the butter. Leave it there for a couple of minutes and your butter is more soft than before.
Prepare the Bread
Smear the butter generously on one side of the breadslice. Place is with the butter-side down in the baking dish.
On the other side you smear some pesto.
The Sandwich Stuffing
Time to put the other ingredients on the bread. First the cheese and the meat. I choose to put some bacon on it but you can also choose for ham or salami. Or, if you are a vegetarian, no meat at all.
Scatter the tomatoes over the bread and put the sliced mozzarella on top of it.
Close the Sandwich
Put a little bit of pesto on one side of another bread slice and the butter on the other. Place it with the pesto side down on top of the sandwich.
Baking Time
Time to warm things up! To get those nice flat sandwich you can put a sheet of baking paper on top of the sandwich with another baking dish on top of that!
Place everything in the oven and bake it for 20 minutes on 180 decrees. After 20 minutes you take the top baking dish and the baking sheet out of the oven. Bake the sandwich for another 5 minutes on 220 decrees for a nice crispy bread.
Munch Time
After 25 minutes of waiting with a watering mouth you think you can eat the sandwich but no! Wait a couple of minutes because the tomato inside the sandwich is really really hot.
Enjoy your Oven Baked Charming Cheese Sandwich! <3
