Outside Standing Frame

Can be used by an adult or child with restricted mobility or balance to assist with supported standing. The standing frame allows for increased social participation as the client is able to work and be at the same level as their peers.

Supplies

Tri-wall cardboard, power jig-saw, white glue, hot glue, wooden dowels, edging paper, metal spoon, hammer.

Cut out 1 x panel to wrap around with jig-saw

-      16” x 40”

Cut out 2 x support panels (cross-grain) with jig-saw

-      18” x 22”

Cut 2 support pieces at desired angle

Use metal spoon to crease main panel piece in half

Glue 2 support panels to main panel with the angle side up using hot glue

Let panels dry for 5 minutes

Fold and glue together top side of main panel to the angled side of support panels with white glue

Nail in 4 wooden dowels to increase sturdiness

Cut a slit in bottom of main panel to desired width and height of feet

Cut 2 slits 1/4" wide for straps to rest in

Cut out panel to close off back of frame

  • 16" x 20"

Glue and use 4 wooden dowels to secure back of frame

Place whole frame on a second cardboard piece to trace an outline

Cut outline using a hand-knife

Secure frame on support board using white glue

Edge frame using edging tape

Prime, paint and polyurethane for maximum durability
