Outdoor Hockey Stick Table
This project was a unique way to repurpose a old, discarded table using broken hockey sticks to make a weather-proof outdoor patio table to hold drinks or a cigar ashtray.
Supplies
For this project, I had a bunch of old, broken hockey sticks lying around. We found a discarded planter-table that likely had a wood or porcelain tile insert that was broken or destroyed.
For the first step, I simply cleaned the old table frame with a rag dipped in paint thinner. After cleaning, I painted the table using outdoor spray paint and let it dry completely.
While waiting for the paint to dry, I measured and cut the broken hockey sticks to length. These are all fiberglass sticks, so they’ll hold up nicely throughout all types of weather!
Finally, I used a hot-glue-gun to adhere the sticks to the base - and to each other. This was relatively simple to do. All of the glue was hidden, leaving the top of the table with a very clean finish.
The finished table looks awesome. It’s totally weather-proof, and will last for many years to come. This was a quick & fun way to upcycle some old, discarded hockey sticks into a great backyard furniture piece that will last for a very long time. The only expense was time as all of the materials were already hanging around my house. I was able to complete this project in about 2 hours from start to finish!
