These are estimates that we have used over the years. Remember to use your own judgement based on the appetites of your guest. We are a hearty eating crew and we always have plenty to go around! These are photos from additional boils.
Start the Burner
- Use a pot that is large enough to fill the pot 2/3 with water. There needs to be room to add the ingredients.
- Add the "Crab in Bag" Pouches.
- Bring to a boil BEFORE Adding the vegetables.
- When using 4 gallons of water/beer mixture it takes approximately 40-45 minutes to bring to a boil. So we start the water heating up while we prep the ingredients. Once the water has started to boil then you will be adding the ingredients.
- Tip - Secure your area for safety. With many toddlers, we choose to place a boundary around the pot with wooden stakes and a yellow rope.
- As you see in the photos we use a keg for our boils. We have also used the pot many use to deep fry turkeys in.
Prepare & Cut Up Food
Kielbasa / Sausage = Cut into 2" pieces.
Potatoes = Cut into quarters.
Carrots = Cut into 2" pieces.
Onion = Cut in half.
Garlic = Separate the cloves, trim & peel and then cut cloves in half.
**Keep Seafood & Meats on ice until ready to add to the boil.

Turn the Heat Off.
Allow the pot to COOL enough to drain the water from the pot.
Pour the ingredients from the pot on to a large covered surface.
We cover our table with a plastic table cloth/shower curtain and then newspaper or cardboard to absorb the excess liquids.
EAT & ENJOY!
(Note: This boil is not including corn. Guests did not arrive with the corn but we enjoyed!)
