Ornamental Plastic Flowers

I think plastic flowers are a no-go area. But in my little shadow garden real flowers are rare. So to brighten things up I created these. I think they are admitted because they don't even try to look like real flowers. They add a splash of color and stand proud fully aware of being non natural.

Plastic bottles in the color of your choice

2,5 mm standard copper wire with brown or green insulation

little melting or "Perler" beads

pliers

a pair of scissors

an awl

Remove the bottom of your plastic bottle. Cut square pieces from the side, and make the square into circles. You can cut with a normal pair of scissors. Punch a hole in the middle of the circle. Make sure this hole is just big enough to slide over the insulated wire with some effort. It should stay in place and not slide down. Mark the right depth on your awl with some masking tape!

As an example the blue model is showing off. Three 2,5 cm circles, one 2 cm and one 1,5 cm on top. threaded to resemble a little cone shape

The most simple. Cut circles of 3 cm. Punch a hole and put the wire trough. To thread the perler bead on top you can heat the bead with a hairdryer or by putting them in hot water. The bead slides over more easily when its warm.

I don't know where you can find the little orange flasks. Someone collected them for me. I think they came with ready made meals. Put the sharp end of your scissors in the middle and cut off the bottom half. ( the top part I didn't use). Punch a hole. I added little circles of bicycle tube and bent over the top of the wire. Discovering the plastic is quite thin and the cups did not all stay in place I added a piece of bicycle tub on the underside as well

Choose your own color, invent your own shape. I discovered simple shapes work best, without petals, and without trying-to-look-like-the-real-thing. But you might disagree...

Anyway, It's the best way to put your garbage in the garden!
