Origami Riveted Leather Wallet

Working by following this pattern will result in a single piece of leather, folded and riveted wallet as seen in the pictures above. A fairly easy project that should take not more than on hour to accomplish. The wallet has four credit card compartments and one for paper money. If you need a nice fast solution for a relatively simple but easy to do yourself billfold, then don't skip this project. Now let's have at it!

You may use whatever type of leather you want for this but thinner and stiffer leather will be the best choice. You also need 8 rivets appropriate to the thickness of the leather you choose to use.

Print this pattern using the US Letter format on any type of paper sheets and make sure that you disable the page margins from the printing options before you start. After you print the pattern make sure to measure the small test square that should be 25.4 mm ( 1 inch ) in length.

The thick outlines are to be cut and the circles mark the places where you need to punch the holes.

You will also encounter a dotted line which marks a place where the leather will need to be folded and a puzzle piece that is there to guide you trough assembling the two pages of the pattern into a single sheet of paper.

Besides leather and rivets, you will need the following tools:

• Single blade cutter
• A hard metal surface
• A hammer
• A ruler
• A hole puncher sized appropriately to your rivets
• Adhesive paper tape

Should you have a rivet setter at hand, then you're an enviable person and the finished product will end up much neater by using it.

After printing the two sheets you will need to join them using adhesive paper and minding the puzzle piece which will guide you to where the two sheets of paper should meet. Cut the pattern loosely around the outlines and use it to mark the perimeter of the leather piece that you will use for the project.

When you're done place the pattern on top of the leather and fasten it using adhesive paper. This will help keeping everything in place while you punch the holes and cut through both paper and leather.

Not much to be said here so make it snappy

Proceed to cutting the outlined shape on the pattern and be sure you end up with something like shown in the second picture. You may want to use a sharp blade as the paper tends to rip when it is of poor quality or the blade is a bit dull.

The pictures broadly show the way in which the leather needs to be folded before inserting and setting the rivets.
