Origami Mystery Cupboard Box
Hello Friends,
Today I have an amazing 'Ible to share with you guys which truly blew my mind when I came to know about it, I always had an interest in origami but this thing was totally different. It's called the Mystery Box Cupboard, its simply amazing because it looks beautiful, its really easy to make and you can use it for so many purposes like gifting, decoration or as an organizer for stationary like paperclips, board pins, stapler pins, rubber bands etc.
SO, here's what you'll need!!
Supplies
The Initial Creases
- Take an A4 size color sheet and make 3 horizontal crease to divide the sheet equally in 3 sections.
- Once you have the 3 major creases, subdivide each section in half to get a total of 6 equal sections and 5 crease lines.
Making the Octagon
- Fold the outside sections from each side then make diagonal triangular sections to get slant crease as shown in the pictures, do this for all four corners.
- You should now have a octagon as shown.
Opening Up Everything
- Open every fold you should see all the creases we have made till this point.
- Observe the 2 triangles on each vertical side of the sheet in the first image and fold inside touching the tip of the triangles. to get a rectangular section.
- Once, you are done with step 2, open up everything and fold the corner in to get a slant crease, repeat this for all the 4 corners and open up everything.
- The final creases should look like in the final image.
- Fold back to get the octagon we made in the previous step, we are almost done!
- Fold the two sides of the octagon to get a rectangular shape.
TIP: Please refer to my video for better understanding.
The Final Problem
NOW, this part is bit tricky.
- We need to push the sides in, and the other two sides will automatically come up taking the shape of the box.
- Glue the sides to make it permanent.
Congratulations! you should now have a folding box which can open and close, we now just need some compartments to place inside it where we can keep stuff.
The Small Boxes
These are really easy to make.
- Take a colored sheet of 13.5 cm X 13.5 cm and make a horizontal and a vertical crease to divide the sheet in 4 equal quadrants.
- Fold the corners inside to make a smaller square.
- Fold inside halfway on each side to get 2 more creases on each side.
The Magical Part
This looks tricky but it's very easy, Open up two opposite sides and then fold them inside form both sides and it will take the shape of a box.
We need 4 such boxes, so make 4 different color boxes using the same method.
Assembling Mystery Cupboard
Once you have the four small boxes glue them inside your cupboard in alternate style.
Congratulations! you have made your very own mystery cupboard, you can use it as you like, gift it and surprise your friends or use at as a stationary organizer at your desk.
Enjoy!!
