Origami Evelope

finished.jpg
In this instructable i chose a simple way to fold a piece of paper into it's own envelope,  a great idea for any Santa letter and a fun project at the same time. If any of the instructions enclosed seem vague or difficult to follow please don't post any comments explaining the many reasons that i suck,  as this is my first instructable and i am posting it for a class. I found the diagrams and how to do this fold on several websites and found it to be a fun project. please excuse the blurriness of the finshed product, it was taken on a cell phone.

Step 1

1.gif
First Fold the Top edge down to the bottom edge. this is relatively simple for any veteran paper folder.

Step 2

2.gif

placing the fold on the table fold the top paper down to the bottom. Make sure you do this very carefully because this fold will be critical on the next few steps and will make it very difficult if you mess up here.

Step 3

3.gif
Now that the easy folding is out of the way, it's time to prepare for the more difficult steps fold the bottom edge up to top fold and then leave it open again.

Step 4

4.gif
Fold bottom edge to the crease you just made and then fold upwards again.

Step 5

5.gif

Fold paper downward to the spot on the diagram. this is going to be just above the bottom fold.

Step 6

6.gif
Fold the bottom corners up into the bottom fold as shown in the picture. this will give your envelope is essential bottom shape.

Step 7

7.gif
Fold the sides of the envelope towards the center, try using the corner triangles as a guide. the open it back out again.

Step 8

8.gif
fold the creases as shown on the picture. this is quite an essential step but a tricky one

Step 9

9.gif
If all has gone well so far your paper should look on the diagram on the left. Now you must fold out the corners shown on the diagram above so that it looks like the picture on the right.

Step 10

10.gif
For this step, you are going to use creases that you already convienently left for yourself. fold the edges inward as shown and flatten the corners. on the side.

Step 11

11.gif

Fold the top part back down, once again using the creases.

Step 12

12.gif

folding the edges towards the inside, bring the corner triangles out as in the picture.

Step 13

13.gif
Tuck the corner triangles towards the inside of your envelope.

Step 14

14.gif

Crease the top corners as shown above and then open them again.

Step 15

15.gif
Holding the envelope at the purple spots  on the picture. fold the top down and toward the inside as shown by the picture. The creases should serve as to show you the way. it is also reccomended that you place a book on top of the folds so as to help the envelope keep it's shape.

Step 16

Once you have folded and tucked the last top part and allowed the envelope you have just created, you can then go to the post office and deliver your hand-made letter/envelope, and hope that your friend has less trouble opening it then you did folding it.
