Origami Dragon Claws/Wreath/Dragon/Snake
In this project, you will be able to make multiple crafts with just one basic origami piece, the claw. These are the ones that I like to make the most, which you can hang up anywhere (except the dragon claws which you can wear). Feel welcome to make up more crafts out this incredible building block if you'd like.
Supplies
All you need is some square sized paper (I used sticky notes)
Making the Claw
Fold in half then unfold.
Making the Claw
Fold two edges so they meet in the middle, on the crease, then fold in half, along the crease.
Making the Claw
Fold so you can see roughly a 90 degree angle, it doesn’t have to be exact and might have to be adjusted later.
Finishing the Claw
Wrap the remaining paper around to form the claw. Tuck in any extra paper in the outside pocket.
Making Dragon Claws
If you want a full set of claws (enough for both hands) you’ll have to make 10 (one for each finger) or if you want to make them longer you can make 20 claws and stack two on top of each other.
Now just make sure the pocket is large enough for your fingers and fit them on. You may need bigger paper than sticky notes.
Making a Wreath
If you want to use glue, slather it onto the front part of the claw first then fit one claw underneath the pocket of another as shown in the first picture, repeat until you have a full wreath. (I used 12 but you can use as many or as little as you want as long as it works for you)
Making a Dragon
Connect a few claws together like in the wreath but don't connect them, use just enough to form the dragon's body. For the wings just stack three or four claws on the outer pocket of each claw. Once finished with the two parts, slip the wings into the outer pocket of the first or second claw (the head and neck). Draw a little face on the first claw if desired.
Making the Snake
Connect about three claws together to make a set, you'll need at least two sets to make the snake, now unlike the wreath, connect the sets together in opposite directions to make the curve. Draw a face on the front most claw if desired.
