Origami Desktop Organizer From Playing Cards

logo.jpg
Have you ever spent hours looking for lost keys, USB flash drive or earbuds?

Stop losing small items you misplace daily with this cute and easy to build desktop organizer you could assemble in 10 minutes without glue or special tools. Due to modular design you may easily expand it to suitable size and capacity. Moreover, this is an eco-friendly way to reuse an old deck of cards.

This project is based on the same origami technique I've used in another instructable to build a gift box.

You'll need some playing cards.

Two standard poker decks are enough to assemble a 2×2 organizer like on the title picture.

Take another square section and make four joints to form the bottom of the box.

Assemble more compartment boxes in the same manner. For 2×2 organizer you'll need four boxes.

Connect Two Compartment Boxes

Use two more joint cards to fasten compartments from the top and the bottom.

In the same manner attach as many compartments as you need and finish your organizer.

You could customize your organizer by combining different playing card designs or folding the cards face-up. You could also build larger compartments or even build 3D sculptures. It's completely modular!
