Origami Decorative Vase

This is a decorative vase comprised of origami hummingbirds and flowers. These are then organized in a vase to create a beautiful, handmade centrepiece.

Supplies

-Origami paper (or any paper that is a square)
-Vase of your choice

Step 1a

Place paper good-side down.

Step 2a

Fold the paper in half horizontally.

Step 3a

Open previous fold and fold in half vertically.

Step 4a

Open previous fold and place the paper good-side up. Then fold it into a triangle horizontally.

Step 5a

Open previous fold and fold into a triangle vertically.

Step 6a

Open previous fold and pop up the centre so the paper curls downward.

Step 7a

Fold in the sides to create a diamond shape as seen in the video.

Step 8

Fold one top edge into the centre. Just enough to match it with the centre crease.

Step 9a

Repeat on the other side.

Step 10a

Flip over and repeat on the other side.

Open fold and fold one side in half.

Repeat on other side.

Flip over and repeat.

Flip over and hold on half.

Fold up one bottom corner.

Repeat on other side.

Fold top down.

Unfold previous fold and bend the tip forward. From here press down.

Finished Part A

Now that the bird is complete, we must now move onto the flowers.

Step 1b

On smaller pieces of origami paper, repeat steps 1a-7a. The only difference is to start the folding process with the good-side facing down. What you should after completing this steps should look like the one displayed in the video.

Step 2b

Turn the open side away from you and fold in the sides.

Step 3b

Repeat on the other side.

Step 4a

Fold in half.

Unfold the last fold and push one flap down.

Squish down the remaining folds flat. This should create a flat square. From here, shape the square into pedals by lightly folding and manipulating the corners. This creates the flowers.

Step 7b

Make approximately 7-8 flowers.

Step 8b

Using glue or tape, attached the flowers by their stem to the rim of the vase.

Once the rim has been surrounded with flowers, glue a wooden dowel in the centre.

Put the already made origami hummingbird on top of the dowel.
