In this, I'm going to show you how to make an origami cherry blossom! It's quick and simple to make, but still looks amazing + was fun to make. It would be a perfect gift to friends or family :D

Sorry for the bad quality pictures ! Here's a link to the instructions I looked at to make this: (http://www.origami-instructions.com/easy-origami-kusudama-cherry.html)

Supplies

1. 5 sheets of paper

2. Glue or tape

Step 1:

Make sure your paper is a square. Then, fold it down the middle diagonally and then unfold. Fold the edges of the paper to the center, but make sure it doesn't overlap. Unfold it.

Take the tip of the paper and fold it down, connecting the two middle creases together. It should form a diamond shape.

Step 2: Keep Folding

step5-2.jpg

Take the wide two corners, and fold them into the middle. They should meet at the middle crease. Both sides should end up like the right side of the photo above. Then, fold in half with a mountain fold. It should have all of the folds on the outside of the paper.

Step 3: Fold and Tuck

step8.jpg

Unfold the upper layer of paper to the left. Fold the bottom tip of the paper horizontally and tuck it into the top section. Then, take the upper left layer and fold it back to the center, creating a trapezoid shape.

Step 4: Fold the Top

step 9.jpg

At the top of the paper, make two diagonal mountain folds. It will result in some paper in a "valley". Crease the folds.

Step 5: Flip

step11.jpg
step12.jpg

Flip the paper over and open it up. Take the bottom tip of the paper and put it to the center, before pressing it flat.

Unfold the flattened paper and pop it towards you. You can also push the paper at the top towards you. This creates one of 5 units.

Step 6: Repeat

step13.jpg

Repeat the previous steps with new paper until you have created five of them.

Step 7: Glue and Decorate

step14.jpg
step15.jpg

Put glue (or tape) on the triangular areas and press them together to stick. Repeat until all five units are stuck together and in the flower shape.

Now, you can decorate the flower however you like. I placed a flower stick on the center to cover the gap in the middle I had after gluing. The pockets in each petal are deep enough to be used as a container / serving dish for candy or other snacks. They can also be used to hold other things!

If you make 12 of these flowers, they can be glued together to make a kusudama ball.
