Origami Boomerang (it Actually Flies Back)

for school I learned how to make an origami boomerang. I tested it and it really does fly back. the way this boomerang is made allows you to create two of them with one sheet of paper.

Supplies

for this you will need:

- paper, not cardstock or construction paper just regular paper

- scissors (unless you know how to rip along a crease perfectly)

for the first step have your paper horizontal. fold the paper in half from the top down. try to be as precise with your folds as possible as the neater the folds are the better it will fly. then cut the paper in half along the crease (or rip it if you know how to to that neat enough)

now with your half sheet of paper fold the top down again. now unfold the paper and fold the top and bottom half to the crease. leave a little space in between so that it does not get in the way when we fold it again. as you can see the cut was not very clean in my image. this is because we do not have very good scissors here at my house

for this step you are going to take the right side and fold it to the left as shown in the image. next you are going to take the corners of the side with the crease and fold them onto the crease line from earlier. as you do that make sure to hold down the bottom of the paper so that it does not get misaligned when folding the corners. fold the corners back on the other side as well. make sure its on the same crease.

next you are going to open up the sides a little bit and tuck in the corners you just folded. now unfold the model and unfold the right side. from here on out the folds are going to get much harder so I am going to add more images showing how to do them to hopefully make it more simple for you.

here you are going to want to make the creases in that little diamond shape you see from unfolding the right side better. now fold down the top half and squish down the diamond. next take that little corner and fold it into the little pocket that is created. now take the left side of the model and fold it down. now do the same to the other side so the little pocket gets folded down.

next unfold the top and bottom sides we just folded and untuck the corner we tucked in earlier. now fold the bottom side down again recreating the little pocket we folded down. then tuck the corner back in and fold down the top.

now open the top end and fold the corners in. then open up the edge and tuck the corner we just folded in like we did earlier. then unfold the other corner and close it all up. this makes a little pocket. tuck the corner you just made into. now do the same to the other side and you are done! when you throw it make sure that the side with the line going across the corner is facing up
