Origami Boat

image36.jpeg

This is an instructable on how to make an origami boat. I made this because I enjoy folding paper airplanes and origami, but have trouble finding easy tutorials. So I made this to simplify the process for all you out there. It should take only a minute to do this project. It is fairly easy to make once you understand all the steps. Now, let's dive in!

Supplies

You will need

  • Paper (Regular printer paper works best, but can be substituted for any other kind.)

Below items are not necessary but can be used for decoration:

  • Art supplies for adding details or decoration
  • Scissors, for more detailing

Initial Folds

First, take your paper and fold it hamburger style (which means horizontally). Then do it again but unfold the crease after. this will give you a line to fold up to.

Fold Two Triangles

Then take the two corners at the top and fold into triangles that meet in the middle. Try to do it evenly.

Fold Up Flaps

Then fold up the bottom like flaps on both sides. This next part is tricky so pay close attention.

Now take the corners of the front (the flat part) and fold them into tiny triangles to match the front. Then pull the bottom to make a square as shown in the pictures above.

Folding Into Another Triangle

Now tuck in the points on the border of the square, to make it look smooth. Then take the bottom points and fold up to make a triangle.

The final part is to take the flaps covering the square and to pull straight. Press it flat and then reopen it to finalize the creases, and you have finished your boat! feel free to add detailing or designs to make it even cooler. Please let me know if you did this project and want more like it!
