Origami Ball/Star/Ornament
This is an origami ball/star/ornament or whatever you want it to be! It is quite simple to make and even those who are beginners at origami can make this. It is a pretty geometrical build and does not take too long to make. Have fun folding!
Supplies
- 6 pieces of paper
Setup
First, get 6 pieces of paper. Then cut the paper into squares of the same size.
Making the Pieces
- Fold the paper diagonally.
- Unfold the paper.
- Fold the paper the other way diagonally.
- Unfold the paper.
- Fold the paper horizontally.
- Unfold the paper.
- Fold the paper vertically.
- Unfold the paper.
- Shape the paper so it looks kind of like a star.
- Repeat steps 1-9 for the other 5 pieces.
Assembly
- Put one corner of a piece(blue piece) into a pocket of another piece(yellow piece).
- Put another piece of paper(red piece) into a pocket of a piece(blue piece) that has already had a corner put into a pocket of another piece(yellow piece). Make the new piece(red piece) have the corner of another piece(yellow piece) put inside the pocket of it.
- Push the pieces together so they slightly tighten.
- Add another piece(blue piece) and slide a corner of it into another piece(yellow piece) and put another piece(red piece) put its pocket into it.
- At this point, you should recognize a pattern. Blue goes into yellow and around red. Yellow goes into red and around blue. Red goes into blue and around yellow. You can have different colors, but this is simply meant to help.
- Add in another piece(red piece) that will mirror the other piece across from it(red piece). Red goes into blue and around yellow.
- You should be left with one piece.
- Add the last piece (yellow piece) and put it into two pockets and around two corners.
- Push the corners of the ball/star to tighten it up.
Showing Your Model Off
You can put a string through a corner of the piece and make it an ornament and hang it somewhere or simply put it on a table. I hope you enjoyed this instructable!
