This is a tutorial for jam. This orange jam is made mainly with the peels from oranges and is simple to make. It's a delicious bittersweet addition to your breakfast that I am sure you will love.

Supplies

1. Orange peels

2. Sugar

3. Water

4. Orange juice (freshly squeezed)

5. Lemon zester (or fine cheese grater)

6. Pot

Optional:

1. Lemon peel

2. Grapefruit juice

3. Lemon juice

4. Mandarin orange juice

Get the Peels Ready

Start by zesting the oranges before peeling them (it's easier that way). I used a cheese grater with a fine "grit". When doing this, make sure not to remove all the skin, remove only the zest.

Take one orange (I used a grapefruit, but you can also use a lemon, mandarin oranges or any other citrus fruit) and squeeze it to get the juice. It will be useful later.

Remove all the pulp from the juiced fruit since this will be useful later. This can be done using a spoon and scratching the leftover peel.

Boil the Peels

Once you have removed the zest, take the peels and place them in a pot with water. Boil them for 5-10 minutes.

After boiling them once, pour out the water. Fill the pot with water again and boil the peels once again.

Adding Sugar, Pulp and Juice

As the title suggests, in this step the sugar, the pulp and the orange juice are added to the peels.

I would suggest starting with 1/4 cup of sugar for each orange. Sugar can be added later to better suit your own tastes.

Cook

Cook the jam at low heat. Let simmer to reduce (https://g.co/kgs/EsQiJa) the mixture. Taste to check if you would like to add more sugar. When adding sugar add in 1/4 cups to make sure it does not become too sweet.

Feast

Your jam is now ready to eat or place in jars. Spread it on bread and feast.

(Note if you drink chocolate milk with it, it may taste slightly like Terry's orange flavoured chocolate)
