Have a strange dress laying around but you love the pattern? If not go pick one up from the thrift store! Here's how to make a modern awesome look from that out of fashion dress.

What You Will Need

lay the dress on a flat surface and cut along the seams of the shoulders all the way around on both sides.

Cutting the Middle

Keep dress on flat surface and use ruler or box edge to draw a straight line directly across with marker. Draw line directly below the rib cage. next cut as straight as possible along the line.

Pinning

Pin along the section you need to hem to make sure you will have it be straight across. Make sure to pin around 1/2" or 1/4" to hem

Hemming

Next hemm all sections that were cut. If you are hand stitching, as I did I reccomend cross stitching and double threading so it will stay. Make sure the hemming isn't too wide so you don't create too large of a gap in the middle area.

If the lower area is too loose to stay on the hips you may want to sew in an elastic band to the waistline while hemming.

Done!
