Old School Desk Makeover

You know that the kids from Goonies found that treasure map in their attic? And you know how the news will occasionally have a story about people buying an old house and finding some valuable art or historical item left behind in the attic? Well, friends, I too was lucky enough to find some left behind treasure in the attic of our house. Yes!!!! It may not be valuable or even treasure to other people, but I loved it instantly. It was a rusty old school desk and chair.
Updating the Finish

The laminated top and what I'm guessing was powdered-coated frame, couldn't be stripped. I scrubbed the rusty frame with a wire brush and refinished it with this Rust-oleum spray paint.
The seat was stripped with Citri-strip. Then I painted it with a base coat of latex. The stripes took a couple days because you have to wait for each layer to dry before putting the painters tape on for the next series of stripes.
Close Up

I love the detail of the stripes. If I ever need to redo this seat, I'd probably stain the seat before adding stripes. But it's such a cute desk and the kids love playing at it.
