Old fashioned tea cakes is a fun and yummy dessert that I enjoyed making when I was younger with my mother. You know you have made the perfect tea cake when you have the crispy edges and soft/cake like inside. Follow along to learn more about this tasty treat!
Supplies
- 3 cup plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 cups butter (melted)
- 1 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 ground nutmeg
preheat the oven to 350. grab a large mixing bowl add in the butter and sugar mix until becomes light and fluffy.add your eggs one at time beat in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, ground nutmeg and salt and mix together.
Once you have gotten a dough consistency create a clean space and add flour to the working area of your choosing. Add the dough you created to the flour on the counter or table and you will need to knead and roll the until firm. Once you have completed that step add the dough back into the bowl and put in the fridge for 2 hours.
Take the dough out of the fridge and begin to create whatever fun shapes you desire. I prefer to use a glass cup to form perfect circles.
Enjoy this tasty treat!!
