Octopus Crayon Holder

My little son always comes back from school with one crayon less in his bag, this project is a perfect and fun solution so that our little ones do not lose their crayons and take them to school in a creative and colorful way with our octopus crayon holder , which are adjusted.

Materials

1. take the wool and roll it up, I took 4 fingers as a reference.

2. Make 200 laps with the yarn.

1. Release the wool roll from your fingers very carefully so that it does not come apart.

2. Cut a strand of wool, I cut it approximately 41 cm, I placed it under the pompom
and hold the pompom in the middle, making 2 knots to tighten it very well.

1. In the middle of the arches that are formed at each end, we will begin to cut in half with the help of scissors.

2. After we have already cut the ends in half, we will see how our pompom begins to form.

3. With the scissors, begin to prune our pompom according to how thick we want it.

Note: This step will be according to our taste or depending on which doll we choose, for example if we make a monster we will leave it more hairless or if we want a bear we will prune it a little more.

1. Take the wool and cut 60 strands of wool. I cut them to 80 cm each. The wool I use is thin, but if we use thicker wool we can cut only 30 strands of 80 cm each.

2.When we have already cut our 60 strands of wool, we will divide them into 30 strands on one side and 30 on the other.

3.Then we will fold each set of 30 strands of wool in half.

1. We will take the two sets of wool strands and intertwine them and knot them, leaving the knot in the middle, this will form the tentacles of our octopus.

1. After knotting, we will form 4 groups of strands each of 30 strands of wool as we can see in the photos.

2. Then make 3 groups of yarn strands each of 5 strands and start braiding to form the 8 tentacles.

1. At the end of each braid, with a strand of wool, fasten to prevent the braid from unraveling.

1. Open the remaining fringes in the shape of a spider.

2.Take some glue and apply it to the middle.

3. Take a crayon and place it in the middle of the glue, then cover the crayon with the fringes.

1.Take the colored cord that we have chosen, I cut it approximately 17 cm.

2.Apply glue and wrap the cord to cover the leftover wool on the crayon, we will repeat this step with each of the crayons.

1.With the help of a needle we will take a strip of the colored cord and we will introduce it through the bottom of the pompom passing it through the entire half of the pompom, then we return the needle to form an ear that will serve to catch our octopus.

1.Make a double knot with the leftover colored cord and cut off the excess.

1. Take the pompom, apply glue to the bottom and stick it to the knot in the middle of the braided tentacles.

1. Glue the eyes of the crayon holder octopus.

1. With thin eva rubber make the mouth, it is very easy.

What a pretty face!

1. To finish, take glue about 2 cm from each tentacle and stick them around the face of the octopus.

1. I wanted to decorate it with some sequins on its tentacles, to give it a bit of shine.

Here we have a cute crayon holder in the shape of an octopus, we can do this project together with our children at home or in class with the students so that they no longer lose their crayons.

This project can be done in a very creative way, making different animals, characters with different materials and textures.
