ON/OFF SWITCH WITH ONE PUSH BUTTON

In this project we will see the operation of a button that can turn a 220VAC light bulb on and off. This project is based on home automation, since many times we have required a system with a single button that works to turn a 220VAC light bulb on and off, so I developed this circuit using an integrated NE555.

NE555

Timer IC 555 is an integrated circuit (chip) used in the generation of timers, pulses and oscillations. The 555 can be used to provide time delays, as an oscillator, and as a FLIP FLOP IC. Its derivatives provide up to four timing circuits in a single package

Introduced in 1971 by Signetics, the 555 remains in widespread use due to its ease of use, low price, and stability. Many companies make them in bipolar transistor versions and also in low power CMOS. As of 2003, an estimated one billion units were made each year. This circuit is usually used for simple jobs such as school work, due to its low cost and ease of working with it.

FUNCTIONING

When we give a pulse we turn on and when we give another pulse to the same button it turns off, so every time we press this it will change state. Its output will be controlling a 2N2222A transistor which is an NPN and in turn is controlling a 12VDC RELAY, that is, the circuit will have a 12VDC power supply and this in turn will control a load of 220VAC 10A maximum.
