OGIV3 or How to Spherize Astera's Helios Tubes With a Paper Ball

P1080872.JPG

OGIV3 is an accessory in four 3D printed parts to combine three helios tubes Astera Brand and a common China paper ball 24 inch/60cm size.

Please note that only balls with respectively 14.5 cm and 21 cm diameter opposite holes are compatible for the moment. It's seems to be the most common paper ball made in china distributed in France.

This creation is made for the TV, Cinema, or Theater lighting technicians. Enjoy.

a M10 threaded rod

2 M10 medium washers

Print and Glue

First, please download Gcode files optimized for a Prusa i3 MK3 printer and PLA filament, or download STL files to print them with another configuration.

Print Stats: 27Hours - 240g - 6 euros with a Standard PLA filament

You'll need to print two spinners and glue Small CrownPart 1 and 2 together. I recommend to use a strong glue but adpated to flexible materials.

Screws the Tubes

Screw the spinner to the Helios tube. It possible to use only one or two.

Twist the Crowns

To attach the crowns to the paper ball, first you have to insert the small one and after the large one into the ball, pinch it to reduce the circumference, and release it. There is a resilience effect which strongly holds the part to the paper ball.

Combine the Ogiv3

On a Pole

I'm sure you already understood.
The threaded rod passes through the ogiv3, then you have to put the washers and finally screw the nuts strong enough but not too much.

Just Light It

And that's all !!!

The paper ball can stand up alone in the both side too... not bad for a ball.
