Non-dangly Dog Poop Bag Roll Holder (Lead Clip)
Most dog poop bag roll holders are designed so that they dangle annoyingly from your dog-lead's handle.
I wanted something a little more sleek, and that I could 3D print in one piece.
It's important, socially responsible, and usually the law, to clean up after your dog, and this makes it harder to forget your bags.
I went through a lot of iterations while designing this; different dimensions of course, but more importantly regarding the configuration of the roll and the clip - allowing the design to be 3D printed and be strong in the some directions and flexible in others.
I've updated the design slightly since publishing this, mostly to increase the length of the piece preventing the roll slipping off the spindle.
Supplies
- 3D printer
- Filament (I used PLA as it's easily strong enough, and is less brittle than PETG)
- Ruler / Calipers
- Dog Poop Bags on rolls
- A dog. Presumably.
Measure Your Rolls and Lead
Check the measurements of your favourite dog poop bag rolls.
You'll need to check
- the inner diameter of the roll, whether they're on plastic or cardboard spools.
- the outer diameter of a full roll.
- the outer diameter of an empty roll (i.e. just the spool).
- the width and thickness of your dog's lead.
(optional) Adjust
Hopefully you won't need to change the roll dimensions as I've made the model to suit a variety of rolls.
You may need to change the dimensions related to the lead so that it fits and grips well.

If you've not needed to make any adjustments, you can simply download the STL file and load it with your Slicer.
If you have made changes, export the STL from OnShape instead.

I just used the default normal profile, with the standard 15% infill.
I prefer the gyroid infill pattern, and using a concentric pattern for the bottom layer, but it's entirely up to you!
