Nightstand Organizer

This organizer goes on your nightstand. It can hold your glasses, phone, keys, and watch. This organizer also allows you to charge your phone while it is on the stand.

Acquiring Materials and Tools

The materials and tools I used in this project were wood, dowel rod, band saw, drill, hot glue, screws, pencil, and ruler. Some of the tools can be replaced:

  • band saw and hack saw
  • hot glue and wood glue

Cutting the Base Board

I first cut my 16 in. X 16 in. piece of wood down to an 8 in. X 12 in. using the band saw. I then used a sanding machine to make all the edges smooth.

Making the Watch Notches

On the base board I traced out 2 rectangles: 2 in. X 1 in. separated by a 2 in. X 2 in. square in between. Using the band saw I cut out the rectangles to make two notches in the base board for the watch to go around.

Making the Key Holder

I took a dowel rod and then using the band saw, cut it down to a __ in. peg. I then used the sanding machine to make the bases smooth for when they would be attached to the base board.

Making the Phone Holder

I then took a 5 in. piece of wood and cut it in half using the band saw. After I used the sanding machine on the bases to make them smooth for when they are attached to the base board.

Making the Glasses Shelf

I took piece of wood and then cut it down using the band saw to 5 in. X 2 in.. I then used the sanding machine to make the bases smooth for when they are attached to the base board.

Making the Back Stand

I took a piece of wood and using sand paper and the sanding machine, I sanded the wood at an angle that would keep the base board standing and all the objects from falling off the completed organizer.

Attaching the Back Stand

IMG_1673.jpg

I used a drill and two screws to attach the base board and the back stand. The back stand was cut at an angle to keep the base board standing at an angle so that the objects on the finished organizer would not fall off. I then drilled the screws from the front of the base board back into the back stand.

Attaching All the Pieces

I traced out on the base board where I wanted each piece to go. Then using the hot glue gun, I attached each piece in their appropriate spot.

Drilling a Hole for the Phone Charger

Using the drill and a drill bit that makes a hole big enough for a phone charger to fit through, I made a hole in the base board in between the phone stand. This was the final step in completing this project.
