Night Reading Glasses

Hi! I'm Nick, the designer of the night reading glasses. These glasses are supposed to help you see things in the dark. You can use them to read while late at night, use them as you work on the underside of cars, and for any other visibility purposes in dark spaces! I hope you enjoy this product.
Supplies
Carboard, Filament, Autodesk 3D software, Lights
Problem Statement
Problem Statement: People can’t read words late at night without a bright light that can wake other people up. For example, let’s say that it’s a late friday night, and you are either having a hankering for knowledge or are looking at a manual. When you try to read it, you only have either a bright flashlight or you turn on the room. However, someone is sleeping, so bright lights are not an option. So what are you to do without inconveniently using your phone, which might not even work if you need to hold things with 2 hands?
Research
Research: First, I observed several examples of glasses with lights on them such as these:
I looked at these designs for some similar products in order to figure out the general design of what my product could look like.
I then went surfing the web for some cheap lights for my proof of concept. This is what I found:
(These are cheap because we weren’t really put on a big budget while working on this project)
Brainstorming
Brainstorming
This picture was chosen to represent my brainstorming because it was what I first came up with in my head when I first imagined what night reading glasses look like.
While I was thinking about this, I also had to figure out how they were going to work. I came to the idea that I should allow you to take the lights in and out of the socket, so you can either replace them or remove them in case something goes wrong with the product.
The other photos are me trying on pairs of glasses I made/got. This was to account for how the arms were going to latch onto the ears of the wearer.
Calculations/Data
Calculations/Data: Glasses: 5.525 inches wide for the head, 5.575 for glasses arms. (Measurements taken by hand on teacher’s glasses)
Bulbs: 1.460 bulb length, .460 bulb width (Note: Be careful with paper tab, could fall out)
3D Model: Bulb holes 4.65 for slight wiggle room when inserting
Glasses Screw: .133 in tall, .041 in wide diameter bottom spin insert, .078 in screw top diameter, 1.2 mm thread depth, .022 in screw top height

Conclusions
Conclusion: Overall, this was an interesting product that taught me a lot about the way I work. It gave the opportunity to problem solve and to come up with creative solutions. I hope that I at least get something out of this competition though. Would I do it again? Not that I foresee. But at least at the end of the day, it was something I did. Hope this helps you to make your own pair of night reading glasses!
