Night Lamp

Materials

  • Sand Paper
  • 10 Wooden rods that are 40 cm long each
  • Tape
  • Translucent/Clear Paper
  • Fiber optics
  • Wood glue
  • Ruler
  • 2 piece of plastic
  • Lazer cutter
  • Sissors
  • Stapler
  • Caliper
  • Tin Snips
  • Something Heavy

Cut Paper to the Correct Size

  1. With Your Ruler measure the height oh the paper to be 18 cm tall and the width to be 11 cm wide
  2. With your scissors cut your paper into three of those squares
  3. Make sure they are all the same size

Sand Your Paper

Get your sand paper and sand your clear paper this will it a nice worn out fabric like look

Cut Your Wooden Rods the Right Length

  1. With your tin snips cut 16 10 cm long wooden rods
  2. Then cut 8 18 cm long wooden rods

Make the Wooden Rods Thicker

  1. Get 2 of your 18 cm long rods and with wood glue, glue them together
  2. do this until you have 4 18 cm long rods
  3. Repeat this process with the 10 cm long rods so that you have 8 of them
  4. After they are glued together put a heavy object on them and wait for them to dry

Connect All Your Rods Together

  1. Glue two of your long rods to your short rods so they make a rectangle, do this two times
  2. With your stapler staple all of your connecting parts so they work as clamps
  3. Glue and staple the last 4 short rods, so that they connect the two rectangles you created so that it forms a rectangular prism

Tape Your Paper on to the Stand

  1. Tape your paper to three of the rectangular sides, make sure that you have an open side, bottom and top

Laser Cutting

  1. Get 1 piece of laser cutting plastic
  2. On laser cutting software create a design with your name and year as a little way to sign your work.

Pop Out Your Laser Cut

  1. Once your laser cut is done pop out one side of your laser cut, remember to be careful so you don't break it
  2. do this until you have it completely popped out

Hot Glue It All Together

  1. Hot glue your laser cut to your frame

Cut Your Fiber Optics

  1. Get you scissors and cut your fiber optics
  2. You may want to cut little sections at a time

Make a Base

  1. With your caliper measure the diameter of your fiber optics base
  2. Make a square that is 10.5 cm by 10.5 cm
  3. Make a circle inside the square that is the diameter of your base
  4. Use the laser cutter to cut it out

As you can see when I was popping out the whole in the base part of the base broke, so I simply hot glued it back together

Finish Your Lamp

  1. Put the power cord through the whole in the base

  2. Hot glue the base to the lamp

  3. Hot glue the fiber optics to the base of your lamp

  4. Turn off the lights and plug it in!
