Nicole's Favorite Dish

IMG-2822.jpg

This meal is filled with a delicious combination that the whole family will love. I learned this from my mother and I changed it up a little bit to have more spice. Now, this is my wife Nicole's favorite meal that I cook. Hope you enjoy it!

Supplies

1 lb Cajun smoked sausage

3 russet potatoes

1 red onion

1 head of cabbage

Old Bay seasoning

Cajun seasoning of your choice

The Fixings

  • First, we are going to start by peeling and washing your potatoes. Cut your potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Once you have completed this task, cut and chop up about half an onion.
  • Now it is time to add about a 1/4 cup of olive oil to your large frying pan
  • Add potatoes and onion to the large frying pan
  • Have your heat set to medium
  • Cover and cook
  • It takes about 10-15 minutes for potatoes to become tender
  • Occasionally stir

We Have the Meats

  • Once your potatoes are tender, it is time to add in your sausage.
  • Make sure your sausage is sliced thin enough for that perfect-sized bite.
  • Add in your sausage and 1 tbsp of Old Bay seasoning
  • Once you've added your cajun smoked sausage, cook for about 5 minutes
  • Maintain your heat at medium
  • Keep stirring and mixing

It's Cabbage Time

  • Now its time to add your cabbage
  • Your cabbage should be sliced into very small pieces.
  • Not too small because it will shrink as you cook
  • Add in 1 tbsp of Cajun seasoning of your choice
  • Cook on medium for about another 10 minutes
  • Keep stirring and mixing occasionally

Dinner Time

It is finally time to dig in! I personally like to add a little bit more heat with some Old Bay or Lousiana hot sauce.
