Nice 'N Spicy Cookies

These Nice N' Spicy Cookies have a zesty kick which makes your taste buds tingle.  Since the holidays are approaching, my partner and I chose to do these particular cookies.  They are the ideal dessert to make during the winter season because of their amazing combination of spiciness and sweetness.  This recipe requires only 7 simple steps!  Enjoy making Nice 'N Spicy Cookies!

What you will need:

1. 4 cups all-purpose flour
2. 2 tablespoons ground ginger
3. 4 teaspoons baking powder
4. 1 teaspoon black pepper
5. 1 teaspoon salt
6. 1 1/3 cups (2 2/3 sticks) unsalted butter
7. 2 cups sugar
8. 2 eggs
9. 2 tablespoons vanilla
10. Food coloring (optional)

Baking Temperature

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Combining Ingredients

Stir together the flour, ginger, baking powder, pepper and salt in a large bowl.

Beat together butter and sugar in a medium sized bowl until smooth and creamy (about 2 minutes).  Beat in eggs and vanilla.

Spooning Out

Spoon out butter mixture into the flour mix.  Beat dough (or stir by hand) until a stiff dough forms.  If preferred, add food coloring. 

Flattening Dough Into a Disk

Divide dough in half.  Flatten each half into a six-inch disk (round).

Rolling the Dough and Cutting the Cookies

Roll one half on a  lightly-floured surface.  Cut out any cookie shape you desire and place the cookies about 1-inch apart on a non-greased cookie sheet.  Repeat with other half.

TIP: If your cookie sheets are old, spray a light amount of Canola Oil onto them.

Baking the Cookies

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until cookies are lightly-golden around the edges.  Remove the cookies from the cookie sheet and let cool.  ENJOY!
