New Orleans Traditional Praline Candy

Supplies

Ingredients:

4 cups of white sugar

3 cans of evaporated milk

2 sticks of butter

1 bag of chopped pecans

vanilla extract (optional)

Supplies:

large pot

aluminum foil

non-sticking spray or stick of butter

large cooking spoon

knife

Add your evaporated milk, sugar, and sticks of butter to your pot over medium heat.

Cut a sheet of aluminum foil and apply a non-sticking spray to it. Applying a stick of butter will work also. Set aside for later.

As the mixture start to boil, you must begin to stir with a large cooking spoon.

Continue to stir the boiling mixture over medium heat for about an hour. Do not stop stirring or your candy will burn.

After an hour, add in your chopped pecans, and a splash of vanilla extract. The mixture will start to thicken. Stir for an additional ten to fifteen minutes. The mixture will have a dark caramel color.

Remove from direct heat and stir for an addition ten minutes as the candy mixture begins to thicken and cool. It will become hard to stir.

Dump your candy mixture onto the aluminum foil and use your spoon to spread out the candy. Wet your spoon with water if the candy begins to stick to the spoon. Let the candy cool overnight. Cut into square pieces or any shaped desired.

Enjoy!
