Nest for Dolls
As a child, I always had many dolls scattered all over the house. Even when they were stored, it was usually in a boring box, and I didn’t like the idea of my dolls being trapped in something so plain. I wanted them to have their own special home.
That’s why I decided to build a doll nest! It’s like a bird’s nest, but for dolls. It’s not just a storage solution. it’s a cozy little house for multiple dolls. The nest even has a handle, making it easy to carry around the house. Now, dolls can have a place of their own that’s practical and fun, while also being easy to move from place to place.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to build a doll nest of your own. It’s simple, creative, and perfect for anyone who wants to give their dolls a home they deserve!
Supplies
Here is all the tools you need:
- Lampshade – Choose one with a shape and size that suits your dolls.
- Fabric Cover or Stiff Fabric Circle – It should be the same diameter as the lampshade.
- Strong Glue – Ensure it can hold materials like fabric and metal/plastic securely.
- Scissors – For cutting.
- Ribbon or Thick Rope – This will serve as the handle for easy carrying.
Preparing the Lampshade
If your lampshade has an attached electrical cord, you’ll need to cut it off. Don’t worry - since the lampshade is not connected to electricity, this step is completely safe!
Attach the Fabric Circle to the Lampshade
To attach the fabric circle to the lampshade, you have two options:
- Using Glue:
- Apply strong glue along the edges of the fabric circle.
- Press the fabric firmly onto the top (or bottom) of the lampshade until it sticks.
- Pushing the Fabric In:
- Depending on the type of lampshade and fabric you’re using, you may be able to simply push the fabric into the lampshade’s opening, as shown in the video above.
Both methods work, but glue is a reliable option if the fabric doesn’t stay in place on its own.
Attach the Rope Handle to the Lampshade
Now it’s time to add a handle to your doll nest:
- Take your thick rope or ribbon and decide how long you want the handle to be.
- Apply strong glue to both ends of the rope.
- Attach each end of the rope to opposite sides of the lampshade, creating a handle shape.
- Hold the rope in place for a few moments to ensure it sticks properly.
Allow the glue to dry completely before lifting the lampshade by the handle.
Enjoy Your Doll Nest!
That’s it! Now that everything is ready, you can place your dolls inside the nest and start playing with them.
Your dolls finally have their own cozy home, and with the handle, you can easily carry them around the house. Have fun!
