Today we are going to show you how to take a normal, store-bought Nerf Maverick and enhance it to have a longer range.

Materials Needed

  • 1 Nerf Maverick
  • 1 Small Screwdriver (Philips)
  • 1 Ruler
  • 3-4 Pennies

Disassemble the Nerf Gun

There are 10 screws located on the Nerf Maverick. Unscrew them and take apart the gun.

Take Out the Spring

Pull out the spring from the Nerf gun chamber.

Stretching the Spring

Pull both ends of the spring while twisting opposite ways with your hands so you keep the shape of the spring, while making it longer.

Inserting Pennies

Carefully put the spring back into the chamber. If anything comes out of place, refer to the picture above for placement. Insert 3 to 4 pennies behind the spring to add tension to pack a punch to your gun.

Put the frame back together. Screw them together tightly. Make sure you have no screws left over. Cock the gun and see if it shoots. If it doesn't, disassemble the gun again and see what's wrong. Sometimes items can be out of place, that is the problem 9/10 times.

Final Result

A normal store-bought Maverick usually shoots 15 feet. Now, with these modifications, it goes past 25 feet! Enjoy!
