NeoClock is a clock connected to the Internet, that in addition to show time and date, can be configured to show other data, as weather and messages sent from a remote device without extra hardware.

It is built with NeoDigitos: 7-segment displays designed at Inventoteca.

NeoDigitos are launched at Kickstarter, please check the campaign.

The files attached below are the NeoClock 3D model and the drawings of the case for laser cut. They are in 2 formats: pdf and dxf. The units are millimeters. You can find the most recent files in the repository.

Cut the pieces on 3mm MDF or acrylic.

Make countersink for the bolts (on the spots highlighted in the picture above).

Start assembling from the bottom layer (lid/cover).

Insert 4 M3x10mm bolts in the lid.

Add the next 2 layers. Insert the small rectangles to the holes to keep the layers aligned. Screw 4 M3 hex nuts. Add next layer and align the nuts to the holes. Fill the holes with hot glue to prevent the movement of the nuts.

Then add the top layer and insert 4 M3x18mm bolts in the corners. Fasten all the layers using the 4 washers and the 4 nylon insert lock nuts.

Install the Controller and NeoDigitos

Now assemble the inner parts. Remove the lid. Connect 4 Neodigitos and jumper cables. Fasten them to the case using 8 M3x8mm bolts and 8 M3 hex nuts.

Solder the jumpers cables to GND, 5V and pin XX on the controller (Wemos D1).

Insert the controller in its slot and stick it with hot glue.

Flash the Firmware

Open the Arduino IDE.

Before you can compile the code, you need to install the NeoDigito library.

Download the attached file and import the zip file (check this tutorial). The most recent library is in the repository.

After installing, go to Examples / Neodigito / NeoClock.

Write the name and password of your WiFi network. The NeoClock will connect to it.

Connect the NeoClock to your computer and upload the firmware.

Open the serial monitor and press the reset button. You will information about the WiFi connection.

Close the lid.

Stick adhesive paper to the front and back face of the NeoClock.

Stick electrical tape on te border of the NeoClock.

Cut the paper on the edge of the lid using a knife, so you you can remove the lid again. Cut the paper on the holes for hanging if you want.
