Negishi Ryu Shuriken.
Negishi Ryu shuriken are a version of the standard Bo shuriken (a straight steel spike around 6" long) and are often heaver and have a more unusual shape. This would be easier to do on a metal lathe, but, alas, I have not the funds to purchase such a device. As it is, I shall have to work with my old (and rather clunky) drill press.
Materials:
12 mm steel rod. (I used 3/8"/10 mm)
Drill Press.
Files.
Sandpaper.
Torch.
Angle Ginder.
Bench Grinder.
Sharpening Stone.
I'll be posting an instructable on throwing shuriken when I can. Until then, I suggest you read "Japanese Throwing Weapons: Mastering Shuriken Throwing Techniques." by Daniel Fletcher. Fletcher is a student of the MSR and trained under Yasuyuki Otsuka, one of the top shuriken throwers alive. This is an excellent book for anyone interested in Shuriken-jitsu.
Good luck and happy throwing.
